Le Jardin de la Mothe – 12260 Aveyron France

I love looking around other peoples gardens – full of new ideas and I’m always so overwhelmed at the owners devote such hard work and dedication to their little space on this Earth.

Le Jardin de la Mothe is about an hours journey from Chez Mackenzie – well worth a visit – Marion the owner, has designed the garden for NO WATERING REQUIRED! Very useful in this area of South West France where it can gat very hot and dry during the summer months.

I took lots of photos after enjoying a fabulous lunch that Marion and her daughters produced that was booked for a group of friends last August.

If you haven’t time for lunch, then indulge in a cup of coffee or tea and piece of home made cake!

Tour de France Here This Summer

The Tour de France is in our region this coming summer! Always an event to look forward to, the most difficult desition is where to go to get the best view – worth trudging up a steep hill, they don’t go quite as fast as usual.

Street Walk around Penne-du-Tarn (81140)

5 minutes drive from Chez Mackenzie, or if you feel like a bit more excercise you can take a good country walk there – a leisurely 2-1/2 to 3 hours (and then you have to walk back again), but at least there is a lovely bar restaurant at Penne to have a drink and a bite to eat!

Albi – St. Cécile Cathedral

Albi is truly worth a visit – the town is about 40 minutes drive from Chez Mackenzie. The cathedral St. Cécile is quite magnificent and next door is the Toulouse Lautrec Museum. Also lots of restaurants and shopping!
